Articles on North American amphibians, habitat structure and fire ecology were originally prepared as reports to federal, county, or private non-profit entities, or presented at national conferences. Since only a handful of hard copies exist and are relevant to natural area restoration and to preparation of site management plans, posting them online was only natural.
Species accounts are for two specific geographic areas. Chicago region entries are intended as a resource for site stewards and volunteer amphibian monitors. These accounts are a distillation of the educational workshops I once delivered in person for Chicago Wilderness monitoring efforts. Although a few literature citations are included, they are based largely on my own field experience. The north coast California section at present includes a couple of articles and a list of Humboldt County species. Over time more detailed species accounts will be added.
