| Day 2: At the end of the day, the racers camp at Crab Park (also known as Cannibal Island Beach). Even on an ordinary day, this is a special place; huge, gnarled driftwood litters the sand, and powerful tides surge in and out through a narrow gap in the sandbar as harbor seals play. This evening, it becomes surreal, as bizarre machines rest among the dunes, and oddly dressed men and women wander from camp to camp. After dark fireworks, electric frisbees, and firedancers provide entertainment. | |
